Necro Skills: Raise Skeleton and Corpse Explosion, and the Necro Curse Iron Maiden.
I have read enough angst on this trio of skills, and felt enough of my own, to offer a trio of suggestions that (IMHO) might please everybody.
Raise Skeleton: Since the root of the problem is to have the skill useful for the beginner and not overwhelming at the end, let the skill match 7.55 implmentation for skill levels 1-20, and let 21-40, 41-60, 61-80, and 81-100 add 75% or 66% of the previous bracket. Many skills are "asymptotic" like this. Since I don't know the technical detail of this skill in the mod tables, perhaps it would have to be an equation evaluated per skeleton rather than step-wise, the ModGods can comment on this.
CE... As it came from Blizzard, this is a bugged, broken, wonderful skill until Nihlathak uses it. 80% of base monster life (for a monster in the right area for the character to level) is almost always MUCH more than player character life. If a monster pulls a CE on itself or on another monster corpse, you get the "Fire Enchanted Monster Death Instant Character Killer" bug... Now, observe, if a player pulls a CE against another player (dueling) on some monster corpse in the dueling area, the CE damage is reduced 90%. So how about having all monster CE's reduced 90%, since this is in effect a monster acting as a PC using a PC skill against the (real) player charcter? FE Monsters and Nihlathak and The Chimera would then be dangerous, but not "Instant Death No Saving Throw" as they have been in the past (I don't know what was done to FE here in Chaos Empire since I almost exclusively play ranged attack characters because of FE/CE monster death blasts and Iron Maiden).
As for the Iron Maiden curse itself, this was useful against monsters in 1.07, less so in 1.10, and is greatly underpowered here in Chaos Empire. The reason? Relative to Monster Hit Power, Monster Life has been boosted to match our greatly enhanced killing power. Therefore, returning a multiple of a monsters' hit power against itself is now less significant that it was in 1.07. Our vastly more powerful weaponry has made Iron Maiden greatly more dangerous to us. How to address this? I have two ideas
1: drop IM completely (replace with mana tap?)
2: drop damage 90% against players as suggested for Corpse Explosion
