Topic: Been away - starting again - need help

I've been away from diable for almost a year now and now I'm getting back in the game.  I just installed it a few weeks ago and noticed the 1.11 patch.  I had no idea that it had only been out for days.  I installed it then I went looking for the latest version of CE.  I was dissapointed in finding that there was no version compatible for 1.11, then I noticed that the patch had only been out for a few days.

I then read here that there will be no 1.11 version of CE.  Crud!

I'm willing to uninstall/reinstall to get back to a version that I can run CE on.  What I want to know is what steps do I need to take to get the latest version of CE up and running.  As far as I understand:

1)  Install D2/D2LOD
2)  Apply the 1.10 patch\
this is where it gets hazy
3) Install 755.exe
4) Patch that with whatever is in 760dupd.zip

Is this correct?  Are there any issues for playing over a LAN?  I saw something about making sure a port number was changed or a certain item drop would crash the CPU.  Is that automatically handled or do I need to go in and manually set that.

Any other useful tidbits?  Cube recipes, etc?

Oh, and what is the deal with 760d"upd"?  What is the extra "upd" tacked on for.  Is there 2 versions a 760d and a 760dupd version?  I just want to make sure I have all this straight.  I'm already having to uninstall/reinstall everything on 2 computers.  I'd rather not go in for a third term.

Your steps are correct, but don´t forget to activate 7.55 before copying the patch into your d2 folder.

The actual from CE used Port ist 7600, you may need this for LAN connections.

The 760dupd.zip means Version 7.60d-Update, all Patches based upon 7.55 has a filename with ...upd.zip, meaning that this are "only" updates. But you only need the two above mentioned files.

Well I would be playing on a LAN.  So you don't have to set any ports in a diablo config file - you just have to make sure the ports are open between the two computers?

No problem there.  I don't block any ports on the 2 computers connected via LAN - they are both offline.
