I've just killed Baal in Normal and I've got a few more questions for the pros on this board.

-Is there a bug with the Palladin's zeal attack? My AR is sickly high, but I miss against certain monsters a great deal. "Lava maw" acid spitters being the primary example. Also, sometimes if I'm not right up close to a monster, I won't go into the zeal animation, I'll just complete a normal looking swing.

-Are the Lava Maw acid beasts supposed to be so strong? I'm killing everything else in like 2 swings, yet the spitters seem to have way more health and armor than any monsters around them.

-I'm confused as to whether Uber D can spawn in normal in SP. Does he in fact appear in the red portal places in Act 5 80% of the time or something?

-What and where are the added lava caves in act 5?

-What level should I be going into nightmare? I've played through all of normal, not rushing past anything, and I'm at like lvl 44. It's been a while since I've played regular LOD, but I seem to remember getting up to like 52 (on players 8) before heading into nightmare. Does this seem right? Also, is it even worth it to do Baal runs in this Mod? Do the minions of destruction still give a lot of exp?

I think I might have other questions, but I can't remember them now.
Thanks,

the "bug" just sounds like a lag... if not i don't know what it is :)

the common lava maw is one of the hardest monster in the game :)

the diablo clone is in perhaps 80% of the games in one of the lava caves... the world event diablo spawns as normal when "diablo walks the earth" appears (can only happen in hell)

there aren'T any additional caves but additional maps for the 3 caves

you can start nightmare at ~ lvl 45-50, you will get exp then...
you can do some baals when you want some more levels before going to the next difficulty... but it's not as bad as in lod...

Thanks Olfmo. Something else I wanted to ask was about teddy skills. When you add a skill to your teddy, is it universal or character specific? In other words, if my paladin's teddy gives + to venom, can he benifit from it, or does it only work for assassins?

MajesticPriest

It's usable by any character means your Pala can Use Venom and any other skill that can be cubed.

Lava Maws have kinda Block i think. But thats just my impression.
It all returns to nothing...

godemperor

i think the maws have block and a % damage reduction at least in hell.  Fire seems to be the only thing that damages them.

Please tell me how to get past these lava dogs, I can do one or two but more than that and I die, tried all characters.. still the same111 Very frustrated....

countdracula

With necro you can cast confuse or dim vision.

If u use a assassin you can use mindblast.

With barb you could try war cry (the one that stuns)

With Ama try slower missiles

With other chars - you have to do enough damage and be careful or run through.

hulivili

i kill them with frozen orb i think.. with my 4.8k damage..

Glorian,
My pally is basically invulnerable to the lava maws attacks because of my high life leech, maxed resists (don't know if these matter), high life (around 1400 in normal), and a belt full of rejuvination potions. I recomend the same for any melee character. Hope this helps. . .

Olfmo

the lava maws do magic damage so anything that reduces magic damage like magic resistance or absorb from duriel soulstone is very helpful

Shinlos

Don't they do Poison Damage too?
My Ama sometimes got poisoned when standing in Lava.
It all returns to nothing...

Olfmo

don't think so... perhaps there was a boss maw who got spectral hit or something like that...

Shinlos

Or some Poison Shot of an Oblivion Knight hit me. Whatever...
It all returns to nothing...

and try to avoid the big acid plashs they do a lot of damage
