Ladder reset on CE Europe

If I understand correctly, the intention of Ladders is for testing and trying, the permanent played characters are non-ladder?  I'm pretty sure I'm confused, or else I'm mixed up, I can't tell which^^
This is the type of information that us Foreigners would love to have stated in English as well as German...

Let me try to translate it ^^

Ladder is for the group of players who want a real competition. "I must be the best and I will give all for it" also known as "Poweruser" (one Member invented that word for them ^^). And for all other who don´t want to be the best in "power" runs to lvl 100 but improve their charachtes and love to play them and don´t want to lose them is Non-Ladder "perfect".
Ladder period will be short, maybe only 2 months.
I hope I´ve said nothing wrong :)

In my opinion its a split of the community. Not only in their mind but now also on realm. But let´s see what happens ^^

thats the reason why i always have had a complete char delete instead of splitting the community

but discussion in last days have shown that we have those 2 groups...so anyboody now starting in ladder...can do what (s)he likes, and with next reset..start your competotion again, or level as before..in non ladder(mostly the friends you are playing with share same style of play)

Battle.Net had many rune words and cube recipes that were "Ladder Only", and some items that would only drop on the Ladder;  Is there any such difference between Ladder and Non Ladder in CE?

if there are differences then i may have forgotten somethiung..but they should not have oe..except the ladder..
