socketing

im currently playing the version 755 dont have any issues since i installed it about a month ago... got a question, i just attempted to socket a rare glove i put in 8 perfect gems press the button the gems disappered but no sockets on the glove what did i do wrong  :cussing: and also am i right to assume that the maximum allowable socket per item is the number of stash space? or is  it only on some items?

first of all: gloves and boots can't be socketed

the maximum number of sockets you can check at www.diabloii.com for example, it's always the maximum number in ce, not caring about the rarity of the item, so for example a unique flail can get 5 sockets as well as a white flail :)

there are some things which are different from LoD, so throwing weapons can get the number of stash space as sockets and the new character-specific items can get more sockets than lod items for example an elite sorc shield can get 5 sockets :)

i know the following:

pala helmets: norm 3, exceptional 4, elite 5 sox

sorc shields the same

ama gloves and druid boots can't have sockets of course

assa/nec armors: norm 4, exep 5, elite 6 sockets

barb belts i don't know but i think at least elite belts can have 2 sockets
