Hey guys. ive got 1 question. Coz i have some problem's with CE. Everything is good installed etc. But when i activate my CE and try play there's nothing happend. Diablo dont work with it. When i deactivate Diablo working. When Activate not working. Just 0 Process. Can some1 help me with this?

i am using win 7 and i got the same problem from time to time... even as administrator.... for me it works if i just deactivate and activate ce a few times... after 10 times without success i restart my pc...then it usually works

sometimes it also helped to deactivate the mod... do the grafics test (in d2 folder) and try the second or third grafics option...and then activate the mod and start it. if its not working deactivate and activate again...and so on... the problem is that d2 isnt made for win 7

Well all i can say is that ce is the most retarded mod in terms of installing and getting it to run proprely and i tryed a ton of mods. Alot of pepole having problems with this and it should be more user friendly but sadly it isnt.

It would rly help to have a d2se modmanager plugin for ce so you can change to different mods without any problem having only 1 d2 install. As for me i have 5 different mods installed with the help of d2se so it makes rly easy to switch from mod to mod wich you want to play.

If i remember correctly seltsamuel (d2se creator) offerd this to the ce modder but he wasnt interesed.

ist not really all a Problem of the mod. ist General a Problem of Windows 7/64 bit/plenty ram/Browsers like Firefox,chrome,iron. Play under win xp and u´ll see it works anytime.

it is not even a problem with win 7 ... cause i am using it and after installing the game and starting ce i could play instantly without switching to a 32 bit system or to xp or admin mode etc... the only thing i had to allow was that ce is changing stuff in my registry. Thx guys i fixed it...it wasnteven compatibility with xp... i had to change on compatibilty with 98 O.o.. Thx for help guys i wish you nice weekend and server is down? coz when i tryied join it says to me server is offline xD

i dont think that the servers are down or have been down and if .. it was only for a couple of minutes for a restart

Got the problem daily since i re-installed d2 + ce few days ago.

What I've realised so far is, that if i don't start CE directly after booting, I'll need to reboot to start it.
If I only deactivate it and start normal LOD it works fine but no CE:

There is no process showing up in Task Manager, you'll get a quick Black Screen like it is starting and then nothing.

But as long as the workaround works, it is fine.

Possible solution could be to install it into a Win/XP VM and use the bridge mode to connect to the bnet.
This works for several other old game titles like AOE1+2, Cossacks, etc. aswell.
Only thing you need is a Win/XP image. A valid CD-Key can be received via google or from an old pc you've in your cellar

I know this reply is late but I just had to fix the same problem with Win 7 pro.

1. Before you install D2 LOD & CE Mod, go to user accounts control settings and lower slider to the bottom.

2. I do use a virtual CD program but I installed from a regular DVD drive.

3. I did have to replace/add a couple missing files before CE would start, Patch text, etc. This problem has bugged for most of the CE Mod installs.
  I have a RAR save of CE Mod to get the missing files from.

4. Once I changed the user controls The CE Mod started both from the DVD drive and Virtual drive.

I hope this work around helps somebody when they install CE Mod with Win 7. By the way I do hate Windows! By bdpf
