nach nun 20 Jahren Server Betrieb des Chaos Empire Mod ist es nun passiert...
Der Fehlerteufel hat mehr als einmal zugeschlagen
Gestern fiel mit Hardware defekt der Sicherungsserver aus und alles darauf ging verloren
Ich hab im Chat noch Witze gemacht, wenn jetzt was am CE Server passiert ist alles weg...
Hätte ich wohl nicht tun sollen, heute bleibt die Kiste stehen mit massiven Datei Fehlern
Reboot und der Versuch das korrupte Dateisystem zu retten...

Ich habe ein Backup der Charaktere von heute, auch gut
aber der gesamte Teil des MOD ist....schrott
Irgendwo in den untiefen meiner HDDs im Schrank müsste noch ein Backup liegen, wenn ich es finde und die HDD noch läuft
Aber die Ursache für den Ausfall geht damit nciht weg...
Der CE Server ist nun fast 14 Jahre im 24h Dauerbetrieb
hier und da mal eine Festplatte gewechselt, irgendwie ging es immer wieder
Die Art des Ausfalls und des Schadens im laufenden Betrieb deutet auf defekte im Kern des Rechners hin
Nach all den Jahren des kostenfreien Spielens bleiben nur zwei Möglichkeiten
- Chaos Empire Server stellt seine Dienste ein
oder
- es erinnern sich viele an den Spass den sie hatten und sind bereit die ein oder andere Spende zu tätigen, so das neue Hardware angeschafft werden kann
(man darf natürlich auch gerne eine Komplett PC spenden, wenn er nicht gerade auch 14 Jahre auf dem Buckelt hat und einigermassen viel Speicher besitzt)
Ich bettel wirklich ungern, aber nach all den Jahren möchte ich den Service nicht auf diese Art einstellen müssen und ich brauche Eure Hilfe

After 20 years of server operation of the Chaos Empire Mod it has now happened...
The error devil has struck more than once
Yesterday the backup server failed due to hardware failure and everything on it was lost
I was still joking in the chat, if something happens on the CE server it's all gone...
I probably shouldn't have done it, today the box stops with massive file errors
Reboot and try to save the corrupt file system...
The forum is running, that's the good news
I have a backup of the characters from today, good too
but the entire part of the MOD is....junk
Somewhere in the shallows of my HDDs in the closet there should still be a backup if I can find it and the HDD is still running
But the cause of the failure does not go away...
The CE server has now been in 24-hour continuous operation for almost 14 years
here and there a hard drive changed, somehow it always worked
The nature of the failure and damage during operation indicates defects in the core of the computer
After all these years of free gaming, only two options remain
- Chaos Empire Server is retiring
or
- Many remember the fun they had and are willing to make one or the other donation so that new hardware can be purchased
(Of course you are welcome to donate a complete PC if it is not 14 years old and has a reasonable amount of memory)
I really hate begging, but after all these years I don't want to have to stop the service in this way and I need your help
