Title: 7.59 Update Problem - Am I Using the Right 7.55?
Post by: tvynr on May 26, 2005, 04:53:34 pm: I've read in other threads that there are two Chaos Empire 7.55 installers, the "old" one and the "new" one. Does anyone know how I can tell the difference? I just downloaded this file over the weekend (May 21), so I'd imagine it's the new version. Additionally, the size of the file I have is 83,512,507 bytes (same as appears in the download section of this forum) and is dated 04/05/2005 (same as appears in the download section of this forum).

However, when I update 7.55 to 7.59 using the update patch (CE mod activated, copy the archive contents to D2 root directory), the game has problems. Single Player games fault with "unable to join game, bad header" (a behavior I was getting out of 7.55 as well). Multiplayer TCP/IP games, when I try to host, crash the Diablo II program with a Windows error message: "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: ACCESS_VIOLATION (c0000005)."

Any clue what's going on? 7.55 was a really nice update, but it seems to be breaking the stash... the buttons at the bottom which change the stash page aren't there anymore.

the bad header problem is caused by an old stash or old chars. u have to remove them and start with new ones.

Post by: tvynr on May 26, 2005, 06:24:31 pm: Wow. Apparently, not only was the corrupted stash causing the Bad Header problem, it was causing 7.59 to crash altogether. I have deleted the stash files and am now using v7.59 without problem. Thanks!
