Title: CE Europe connection lost
Post by: Naenz on March 08, 2005, 11:48:48 am
This has happened a few times now... Frequently on realm, even when I have a steady good ping (150-250), without any apparent lag, suddenly I get a "connection timed out" message. When I try to rejoin the game I was in, it no longer exists, and my character rolls back to several minutes ago, or perhaps further.

It's not too big of a problem, but I have lost several levels that I have to regain, or I have to get waypoints again, and the items I recently found are gone. It's just frustrating, and I don't suppose there is anything that can be done about it.

Are the servers experiencing instability these days? The last time I played CE on realm was a month ago, and everything was fine - no problems! Anyway, perhaps it is best if I stay offline for now.

To put things right for those of you who are not fluent in German:

ChaosEnergy reported, that a user had logged into the same game at the same time with two different chars from one account which subsequently resulted in a server crash.

At this point of time:
It is not clear if the user in question was aware that his actions have a high probability of crashing the servers, also it's still being hotly discussed (in German) if it was clear to all users that this behaviour is forbidden. Due to the crash _plus_ the unsavoury behaviour of the user in question has been banned from playing on the CE servers - which of course, is also causing some negative reactions. I'm only informing you, so that the non-German-speakers can be aware, that logging in with two chars from one account into the same game at the same time is forbidden. To avoid this situation and similar ones in the future, try to stick with the simple rule that:
1 person/1 IP = 1 char on the realm - then everything should be fine and stable.

I have several children who occasionally play online with me.
We have had up to 4 machines connected to B.Net playing D2/LOD.
We are behind a NAT router so we all have the same IP, different MAC.
B.Net allows 4 but can't handle 5 connections from the same IP.
Usually we have our own characters from our own accounts, but also muled things in and out with the mule characters from the mule accounts.

From what you've said, just playing (the 4 of us) from behind the same router might kill the server?  I wouldn't want that to happen

From what you say here muling accounts are essentially forbidden.

Comments please?

No
if all 4 players have different accounts there s  no problem

btw 8 different connection work from one IP
