Title: Contest Idea

Hey I was thinking, every quest in the packaged (LoD) game had a story behind it.  A small back story that explained and made sense as to why you had to do what you did on the quest. 

Examples, gibin was ormus's magic focus that used for his spell to protect the docks in act III or The original tristram (not ce's) was overrun by evil after the darkwanderer (d1 hero) left the town and the minions tortured cain for fun.

My idea was this, CE's "new act" does not really have a story to it or an explanation as to why you have to do all these things to go to tristram to free cain (even tho he is free before you do the quest).  I mean what is the story behind "The Seven" (i know they represent the seven deadly sins), but why do you have to fight them?  Why are they in Haggoroth?  Why does Nilithak have a 16 level dungeon with uber bosses at the bottom?  Why did the cow king abandon his people for a wooden maze?  What is the black tower key (i know used to go to tristram).

Would be interesting for all the creative writers out there to make a game worthy back story on to why you have to do the things CE set up in order to go to the new tristram. He might even get a few ideas to add to the mod some day from it too!

For the "contest" part maybe the person with the most creative and well thought out back story could have either part if it made into the game or just a set named after them in game or both ^.^

What do you all think? I think it would be a fun project.

I think its a fabulous idea, tho sadly i dont have enough time for a huge story i would try to mix something together in my spare time, only oppose is that there aint too much of it:)

Tho im sure with enough time people could do great things  ;)

Well I wasn't suggesting somebody write a R.A. Salvatore novel.  Just some backstory explaining the mod additions to the d2 world.
