use the link "_Play Chaos Empire in English" in the startmenue or start the game with the parameter -direct

example:

"D:\Games\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -direct

thank you for the quick answer, im running d2 with wine on a debian linux with fluxbox desktop which doesnt use desktop-links, so i didnt see that link. ill try it as soon as ive reinstalled the mod. right now it crashed cuz ive started d2 per hotkey and forgot that its already open and now a dialog box is telling me to reinstall. *lol*

but that issue just brings me to another question: how can i backup the d2-ce-mod directory in a way that it will still work when restored into the origin directory?

you dont need a backup in a sepearte directory, ce is besides all files when deactivated

now after reinstalling and with the -direct parameter it works fine. for now ive out-commented the shortcut key in the fluxbox key-file so it shouldnt be to easy to start a second d2-session by accident.

so hopefully i dont need a dir-backup. otherwise i just reinstall, it just doesnt take too much time, and with linux and the wine-window its just a minor matter. :-)

thank you for your effort.
