Title: Final version of Chaos Empire?
Post by: Monolith on May 31, 2008, 05:16:23 pm
So the recent version (7.69) is out but there are only minor changes.  Does this mean that this is or is one of the final versions?  That's not a bad thing because it is already great but there have been so many changes since the beginning that its hard to think that there won't be more.

I miss the Seven and also using the Chimera or Damien dolls + rune(s) to add skills to the teddy.  It gave alot of dimensions to the characters.

They never missed me, alas.  Stepping into their friendly festivity got me *profoundly* dead.

Only when you
1: had the dolls
2: had an up-to-date list of skill available from said cube methods.  (I don't recall what skills they gave, and never found the doll for venom or other usefull skills).

I know this will not be the end, too many go out and whack monsters, for many reasons.
But there is a need for a better way to level up in act one so a SPer can level up without dying or cheating.
The caves of old were good place to run for experience. Now they take you around to quick past the no no quests.
Even the Starting green items leave you short of skill or defense.
But OH, is it a great mod to whack monsters. I've shed tons of stress with CE. Whack by Whack.
A selection of armor and weapons, class oriented, available at less than 20 level would be nice. Just drops around the different sections of act one.
I have a poor bloody zon now with over ten deaths. (Pulling of hair and gnashing of teeth.) She took on the cloister, under 20 level. Crappy mouse, poor hand eye movements equal DOA, dead on arrival.

OF coarse its fun collecting the different drops. <Smile>

Webwalker is buying the next round.

The ones I remember using were fire golem and oak sage.  The fire golem made damien very easy since he was a big fire shield.  The oak sage served me well until act 1 hell when his low health became an issue.

@bdpf

do you use stamina potions, and the potion to get fire resit?
both are very valuable in act1 begin

also it is very usefull to collect the ELIXIR to get exp quick on the first steps with a low char, from lvl6 it is very usefull to use poison potions..throw them into masses of fallen...and you level soon..

also you are able to kill bloodraven that way(needs surely some time...and helps a lot against those jumping balls...spiting fire...drink the resit potion, and throw poison...)

Annoying little beasts, they kick your @55 if you don't take care.

We vote Hork Spawn as the MOST AGGRAVATING MONSTER of act 1 Piece of (carbonified) Cake.

It used to be the Acid Beast et amici, but they now have a reward that makes them worth while.

Yes, those Resist Fire potions are worthwhile.  You can take 2 or 3 types of resists potions at once, but not all 4.

Stamina isn't much of a bother anymore.  (*bows in the direction of Joe*)

Zons are just weak until Strafe kicks in, so there is a good reason to practice going forward only enough to attract a few enemies, then run so they follow you, and kill them separately.  It's slower, but it avoids the dirt nap.

I have found it quite worth while to gamble partial sets for new characters.
Sash and Gloves of Death's set are worthwhile, boots and shield of Hsarus also.
So is cubing your stash with a wirt's leg and two Meph soul stones.

Some people already found the hidden receipe...

I will give a little hint...

A teddy is worth a lot as weapon and as protection

Assassins have throwing stars... what class has throwing teddy's?

Joe, I'd have to hack the files to find what you're hinting at.  I respectfully request a table of recipes.

Guys, just reread the final version post.  :3some:
This all proteins to single play.

@joe
So your hold out on the old dummy?
Elixirs taste real good going down almost as good as beer. Wish beer and ale would drop, nice and icy cold.
The resit potions taste foul and never have one that I need. Stamina potions sure help when you have to run.  ;)  :angel_not:
I use a bow or javelin on those little bouncy balls of fire, run like hell, till I can equip enough fire resist. Jab, zeal, fend, and double swing work in the teen levels with fast foot work. "Throw up your hands, run and shout, run around in circles." I sometimes run a "J" hook pattern around the little devils and whack them from behind.

My collection of green set items have improved. I lost all the saved stashes, a couple hard drive crashes ago. <Frown>

A collections of bows and javelins lets the low level guys reach out and touch someone. I save all the reworked, socketed, 1+ skill items, and special skill and resist items in the shared stash, sorted by class or level. <GRIN> Only use the first page of the normal / personnel stash. <>Smile<> ;)

As for leveling, Act one does not provide a target rich environment that a low level character can survive in. ;) :oops: and have a chance to level.

@Webwalker

"Zons are just weak until Strafe kicks in, so there is a good reason to practice going forward only enough to attract a few enemies, then run so they follow you, and kill them separately.  It's slower, but it avoids the dirt nap."

I frown on dirt naps, when your all hot and sweaty. You just end up covered in mud.
Zons are not weak in low levels, just skill challenged till they can run. Bow and javelin collections little them have a pointed edge.

The sorc is slow out of the box till about the 18th level, when she can use socketed items with perfect gems and skulls. Of coarse older brothers ans sisters let her have things they find. :angel1: :angel13: A sorc is almost as cute as a nasty assassin.

A cute assassin seems to level up fairly fast compared to the other characters, Why Joe?

So that is why there was two M. soul stones in the stash of the last new guy I made? Ah, its written on a mysterious scroll, but which one? Good think I have collected some. Now I'll have to read then more closely. <Grin>

"So is cubing your stash with a wirt's leg and two Meph soul stones?" ?????
Not a H. Scroll? AH, Webwalker I'll have to check this out.

Drinks on me the next time, guys. The Ye Old Tavern, needs a few more maids to liven the place up. Of coarse i'll have to trim the bread and hair. Now where did I put the head wax? I found the younger ones thought the gray haired ones were harmless. :bow_arrow: Cupid, I am not.

Its in the high eighties and humid with thunder storms here. Break out the candles.  :wece:

See ya
