what would be the best crossbow to use
as i hear sting no longer has the multi shot
i need a good attack
it's not too big a problem
i just want to see what other people use or plan to use

There is a crossbow giving Strafe i think.
Better than nothing.

i no longer need a bow with a skill
i just discovered that the crossbow mastery boosts the damage of blade fury if you have a bow on
so with good bolts and a good damage bow this sin will own

There is no crossbow with strafe but one with +1-3Multishot. It is a unique pellet bow. My Sniper-Assassin is carrying one

Does the poison tree apply to the crossbow as it does to the dagger?
I still am trying to figure out the new changes.

Confusion here: "the poison tree" implies a Necromancer, but the thread is about a crossbow assassin (who has the Venom skill)

Once you (as an assassin or any char with a "venom skill) cast Venom, it has effect for *any* weapon you use (I haven't tried throwing potions but I think they're exempt from this 'any weapon' rule)

The Poison Tree (Poison dagger) has effect when wielding dagger-class weapons and (AIUI) polearms also.

I just want to say that my Crossbow-Assassin reached level69 with a MS damage of 27-31K and 6 Bolts when firing MS with 100%pierce. I also skilled all light-Traps which has a damage of 1-10k till now. Very easy to play and when i really get through hell i will write a guide for her

My present Equipment with level75:

Helm: Blood in rare tempered +2assa circlet (some minor stats)
Armor: Bramble with 40%psnskilldmg in +3shadow, +3Venom Robe (cube blue robe with healing-potions to get +3/+3)
Belt: Blood in rare tempered belt with 20str, 55life
Gloves: Trang oul (hast 25%psnskilldmg)
Boots: those unique boots with 60frw, 15all resi (kinda weak ^_^ )
Ring1: Set-Ring with +1skill and stuff (ps socked)
Ring2: other Set-Ring with +1skill and stuff (ps socked)
Amulet: Sorc-Starter-Amulett (needed for itd!)
Weapon: unique pellet bow with 100%pierce, +2MS, socked with shaelshaelperf.skull
3 Shadow-, 2MartialArts- and 2Trap-Skillers
No Annihilus, Teddy with +5magic-arrow and +5leap(jump)

2.Slot: 1xClaw with +3shadow, 1xClaw with +1Assa, +3shadow (both uniques) for casting venom and BoS (then switching to cross-bow)

Not very good equipment but good enough for nightmare act4 ^_^

Good starter idea; cheap and fast!

For later development, gamble a Rare mantle, and cube it with (junk) Rare charms, one charm at a time, until you get the mods you want.
'Rare' is important so you can temper the Mantle with 3 hearts for 15-20% life-steal (Tempering doesn't work on blue items).

(I'm not teaching *you* aleksa, I'm your student in this matter!  )

Will be kinda hard to get a good Mantle this way.
Only do if u don't need the charms and need the leech.
