Which version do you have installed, mostly this message comes when you not use the right one. Actual you need 7.60c. You can find these update when you click on the button Downloads here at the forum.

You can check your version when you open the readme.txt in your diablo2 folder.

If you have this version you can try to open port 7600 for ChaosEmpire.
