heres my problem my comp runz fine, everything on it can run d2 very good, but what i dont understand is why i lag so bad, last night i laged pretty bad, well not just lag, it freezes up 4 like 5 sec then goes on then repeats again ( to make it clear wat i'm talkin about, is when i ran dg last night ), it just keep doin that last night and i never had the problem before ( when i fought lava maws and witches ). Not to long ago i was just in a game runnin dg like i did last night and i wasnt at lvl 16 nasty place, i was at lvl 10 and it laged even worst than b4, but the freeze time was longer than 5 seconds, even went pass 20 seconds, and just kept constantly lagging and freezing....    explain to me why this is happening now all of the sudden and why it wasnt happenin before? if theres a way to fix this problem, please tell me because i dont want this to keep happenin when i run dg and if it does, Ce will become less fun to me if it keeps goin like this  so plz help if you can....thank you

did you run any programs in backround? like winamp, or p2p progs?

nope nothin is running, just a couple sites that i'm on, but i dont think thats the cause to my problem...

what kind of connection do you have? and whats your normal ping on ccc?

Dsl and its sayin my latency is like 246

hm....246 is quite high for dsl...
do you switch often between desktop and game?

i dont think that its you connections which troubles you, from your description i'd tend to say its your harddisk which has problems loading data and due to this problem it takes some time and it might appear as freezing or lagging.
but thats just a guess.

well i'm in window mode so i dont switch, and to comment on blues reply, mayb your right, but i cleaned it out and i believe my harddisk is quite brand new if not new, not that old, and ya it does freeze but ppl still talk to me and they seem fine, but its only me whos infected with the problem =(

okay, since your harddisk new it might be a virusscanner which is set to scan any files which are used in any kind, so it might be that kind of problem, but it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

I've noticed that Internet Explorer will cause rather large "lag spikes" in Diablo.  Killing (not minimizing) the IE applications cures the lag problem.

What is dg?  You mention it several times.

even if i do exit out the sites that i'm on, it still wount matter because it still happens, it did last night and it did today, but i dont know wat to do, if i cant do dungeon runz then ce would b less fun 4 me, only cause i couldnt do wat other ppl can do =(, but i dont know yet, i'll have to see if it gets better as i play if know then i dont know again....well thx 4 the reply's blueman, webwalker, Sportfreund

Do u maybe play a Psy Assa?
Heavy MB use may cause those lags.

You have this lags only in dg?
May its because of fortitude (i guess you wear it) and the cold-armor on it. In caves there are this frost-scourge monsters and they use artic wind... when i went down with my WW barb and Fortitude i had a similiar problem. Don´t know whether thats the problem but if that is the problem its either because of bad graphic settings or because the cold-armor and artic wind are really hard for computer to display. (Don´t think its because of hardware :\ I've got 512 ram, 2.8 Ghz and Radeon 9600 and used glide-wrapper~)
So maybe you use another armor and test it down their But if the lags are also on Catacombs, Dungeosn, Nastys and Hell levels ... its not because of the cold-armor (But would be faster to test it at crystaline passage or glacial trail, there are also this frost-scourges and with wp its nearer )

well its a little to late to test it out since ladder reseted and the patch came out and also i deleted all my characters to start fresh, the monsters that where messing me up where the witches, lava maws and the 1 you said the artic characters, but if its the fortitude then thats a strange 1, i have a gforce4 4200 and 512ram 2.2 ghz i believe, so i dont see why i cant get good ping off the runz..But its a new beginning, so if and when i get a chance to do a dungeon run, i will see if it happens again and if it does then i need to fix the problem and if i cant, then i dunno what i gonna do =(...but thx 4 the reply on my post Mineralsoff
