Topic: Odd error in TCPIP - crash of host when client exits.

Hello folks,

My wife and I have been playing CE for about a month now and loving it.  However, with 7.59 on both computers we get a very odd error.  We play predominately in TCP/IP with two computers on lan.

When the "joined" computer attemts to save and exit Diablo, the "host" crashes to the desktop with an exception error.  In 7.55 this corrupted the characters and the stash so we made the habit of backing up the entire CE directory before exiting.  However, with 7.59 this no longer happens but the crash still occurs.

If the host leaves then the standard problem occurs that the client is kicked and does not save.

Possibly related to this we have had some odd errors when entering the portal after killing Diablo.  If the host enters the portal the client is dropped and does not get the quest and must redo it.  This even happens if the client enters the portal first and does a few waypoint jumps to get a save.  Obviously, exiting the client after the act end movie doesn't help since this crashes the host and the host does not get the quest.

Any suggestions?  I've dug through the forums for advice on this and learned about the backup of the stash file and characters.  And then upgraded to 7.59 which did help a lot.

i saw this on a pc with less ram..i switched over to 2d graphic mopde or window mode...in both cases no crashes any longer

Good point on switching to 2d.  I'm running in glide atm with a wrapper.
