Topic: Lost character

Hi,

First off I want to thank the creator of CE for making a great game even more fun to play.  I'm having a blast.  Or was . . .

I have a level 79 Sorceress that was cruizing along nicely until I played multiplayer with my wife and tried to put something in her stash.  She was hosed the next time I tried to play her.  I read the forums and looked for answers and have tried a number of things (plugy update, re-installing/etc) and still can't get her back.  I get the "unable to enter game.  bad generic file" message.  Last night I tried the 7.59 update and deleted/renamed the  *d2x file and the *sss files.  She still would not load. 

Are there any more suggestions?  I miss her . . .

Well, I don't have a suggestion to help you right now, but I do have one for ANY future playing of Diablo2 - vanilla or mods.

Make a folder somewhere else (preferrably on a different hard drive).  After every so often, copy your characters to this backup folder.
