bad 7.55?

Everytime I try to upgrade to 7.57, I get either unhandled ecception error, or bad header error when I try to start a game.  If I leave it at 7.55 the buttons on the stash disappear.  Could this be a bad 7.55 setup file?

bad header and unhandled eceptions are more a result of a bad d2 installation

But it works fine if I play normal D2.  Or even if I leave it at 7.55 it works well, except for the lost stash buttons.  Also it is a fresh D2 install.
