Can i socket a set item with 6 sockets or a rare item with 6 sockets and then put botd rune word in will it work and then make the item ethernal

Yes you can put runewords into rare and magic itmes.

maybe you should look somewhere if its possible to get 6sockets in the item you what do use for botd

i don´t know how far the botd runeword is changed in ce (because zod doesn´t give the indestructible bonus anymore) maybe you make the 6sockets into the item (12perfect gems), then make it etheral and than put botd into it ... you can also temper the item with 3jaws for 2,5maxdam/lvl (but after you tempered the item don´t remove the runes, because the temperbonus will get lost)

The rw's aren't changed imo. So it is impossible to put botd in an item and then try to make it eth, cause its indestructable and can't become eth anymore.

So first eth, then rw.

the "indestructable" on botd is not a runeword bonus but from the zod rune, and in CE zod doesn't make items indestructable so you can just socket botd (or any other rw with zod) and then make the item ethereal

I'm not shure, but i belief he let the old stats from the original runes on the rw's.

there are no RWs with indestructible..cause of ZOD does not have this feature..

Definitly not. I have made a war axe myself and got it etheral before the rw. After that i saw that the item was not indestructable, so i had to use a oil of permanence by myself.

BOTD makes the item not indestructable!

Well there are some runewords with the automod indestructible, Eternity(Amn + Ber + Ist + Sol + Sur) and Oath(Shael + Pul + Mal + Lum). They become indestructible as soon as you finished the runeword, so in those cases you have to make them etheral first, because indestructible items can't become etheral.

Sorry for newbie question but what is so specific of item being etheral in CE?

Ethereal items are not different from the LoD ones i.e. weapons have 50% more damage and armors have 50% more defense. The difference in CE is that items can be made ethereal by the player (cube with ghost doll) and they also can be made indestructable by oils of permanence. So in LoD most ethereal items have no real application as they brake forever after a certain time of use unless you socket a zod rune or similar things. In CE those problems don't appear.

Make ethereal with *ghost* doll.

Moderator doll upgrades normal-> exceptional, or exceptional->elite.

(Suicide Minion doll un-sockets an item, and gives you the socketed things back).

Yes you can repair etheral items in ce but this is possible with the blacksmith oil.

The Oil of Permanence which phosgen named make the etheral item indestructable, so you dont need to repair this item any more.

The only Exeption is if you take throwing items like javelins etc, then you have to use selfreplenish items or repair them so that the quantity will be filled up.
