still having problems with tcp game

i did a complete uninstall of d2 and CE.  Re-installed up to CE version 7.55 .  I still get the bad header message when trying to start a SP game and when joining a tcp/ip game the host gets booted out with  the unhandled execption error. What canI do?

did you  delete the sss and d2x files?

I did the whole thing over again!  LOL  This time I did delete the files you mentioned.  It works with a new charactor.  But none of the old ones will work.  NP  I'll just start over......again.   but I dont think I will be installing any future upgrades

i never saw a broken char..always it has been in plugy extension stashes...and this is d2x or sss file..never d2s

When I try to start a game with any of the old charactors, I get "failed to join game, bad generic file"  Or something like that.  I have already deleted them so I cant go back to get the exact wording.
