So I've started to figure out.  Only thing is in D1/H - if you got the Butcher on the other side of a set of bars with the door closed, he was toast if you had a bow.  By the time I met King Leoric in that game, I had no problems with him, if I was using a warrior.

i found him yesterday in catacombs lv2, i'm lv 16 at the time - normal dificulty.  i'm all cold mastery :)  frost nova & glacial spike.

i gambled a nice heavy belt, put my full resotrations in them, and 'danced' around Leoric for about 45 minutes hitting him with my glacial spike & frost nova - keeping a town portal open when i run outa FR's, stock up again on FR's, then attack again before he's healed enough life.

it took me a while to kill him - but i got him under my boot eventually :) 

btw - i lured him outa his hidey hole - away from all those nasty archers :D 

it was most statisfying to kill him :)  i'm not going to try the buther though :S  my lv 30 sorc had a very hard time killing butcher after killing diablo in hell (normal diff). i'm not going to try him with my lv 18 sorc :D
