Please in the future if you could, could you please put the english thread in, I have about 4 people that I play with and we need some help, but the questions might have already been answered so I wouldn't want to post them again.

when planning the new forum, we have discussed about a special english part, but we decided to make only english forum names

so any non german is able to find a starting place, and should be able to place its questions there

so if you need information, ask in english, and we will answer them...no matter if already covered

in that way we will hopefully get a translated and improved FAQ...

  Just a suggestion if you are really interested in English users using this mod and joining in on the forum here.  Make the  FORUM web site so we can read it.  I managed to GUESS what info to put in forms correctly but it was painful all the way.  I think I managed to register here. Registration for English users is extremely difficult
do to the fact that all of the dialog is in German.

 Now on to what I have to say and ask about.

 Did you bother to test on Windows 98 Systems? 

 On mine the installation is trashed and I am now having to reinstall Diablo 2 LOD and
redo the 1.10 patch from Blizzard.

  Here is what I did .

 Made sure my patch_d2.mpq and other typical replacement .dll files, etc were
standard LOD 1.10 (from my d2 backup.zip that I keep for use with typical mods ,etc)
 Executed the Chaos 716 EXE file downloaded as found on FilePlanet.

 Was somewhat alarmed by the unconventional install prompts as it appeared to be a
non standard Windows installer system.

 The install FAILED to correctly create a Chaos games folder on Windows 98. Was not found on any menu under START. I searched them all as the INSTALL dialog indicated to me something was amiss. Not even a desktop folder was created.

A folder with ICONS did pop up after install but no folder was found as stated above.

 I noted the properties of the various ICONS found in this folder .....


  I ran the CEINstall.bat (sorry I forget exact naeme  now as I had to delete all of Chaos installs.  That seemed to run okay however there was some odd dialog in that batch. Perhaps it is okay only under WInXP maybe.

 Ran diablo.exe with -direct switch.

 Diablo accessed CD then just dies . No full screen session, nothing.  Further attempts to run D2 result in same thing. Game session never starts with no dialog.
 
  I ran the CE Uninstall.bat and it appeared to run fine and renamed the .org files back to as they should have been prior to running the ceinstall.bat.

  Game no longer works at all. I tried everything even using the complete uninstall
via System Uninstall which was installed correctly it appears. 

 The chaos mod did uninstall but Diablo LOD sitill is dead. I had complete backup of
typical files that most mods overwrite and tried unzipping my backup but that still did
not work.

 SO now, I have to go thru pain of CD install etc. Hopefully it will restore D2 so it works again and I can just go back to playing my -direct -txt  mini mod I made myself.

 I would like to try your mod as the description sounded interesting but am very leary now as I suspect you did not test on Windows 98 the install and I do believe it is totally borked for Windows98 users .  If I am wrong please inform me what I did wrong.

 Oh, on post  install the install did fire up html help and information but it was all in German.
Totally useless for English users.

 Now i have to guess what to push in order to post. No idea what the checkboxes below mean all is in German!

To change board language to English do the following things:

1. click on "Kontrollcenter" in the grey bar on the top of every forum page
2. on the left side click on "Skins und Sprachen", its quite at the bottom
3. in the pull down menu choose English as your board language
4. press the button under the pull down menu "Accountoptionen ändern"

Thats all.

i got win98 and it works perfect with me

sometimes the installation fails without any reason i think, because i had the same probvlem sometimes

just delete all d2 stuff from your hard drive, clean the registration and make a complete reinstall of d2, lod, 1.10 and CE

then it should work without any further problems (i hope^^)
