Error accessing BNet
Porthos:
Hey everyone,
I'm having a lot of problems accessing BNet (Open and Closed). Every time I click on BNet with CE Realm selected, the game crashes and I get an Unhandled Exception: Access_Violation (c0000005).
It's a fresh D2+LOD install (using Admin rights) as well as a fresh CE install with the 769_incl_772c version.
any help would be appreciated!
thanks in advance
Porthos

Things we've tried:
- Running as admin
- Compatibility mode XP SP2 and XP SP3
- Reinstalling to a different folder
- Install from discs vs install from downloaded version (1.13)
- Direct2D
- Windowed Mode
- Manually deleting the registry files
None of it worked, the only difference between his config and mine is that he's on Vista and I'm on Windows 7. We have another friend who's on XP and it also works fine.
Thanks for helping him out!
ChaosEmpire:
Vista/Win 7 should work in same way
Different graphic boards/driver versions?
Did you tried OpenGL(3dfx),Direct3D and 2D modes?
window mode means -w switch?
I remember that UAC should be disabled, different install folder than the default one
but if i read correctly, the game itself incl CE runs in local mode perfect?
have you tried to copy all mpq files from disc to hdd?
Porthos:
We have the same graphic card (460gtx).
I tried Direct3D and 2D modes both options that the videotest offers.
yes windowed mode is with the -w switch
I tried installing to 3 different folders (C:\Program Files\DiabloII; C:\DiabloII; C:\Games\DiabloII)
Currently D2 works in both Single Player and BNet and CE works in Single Player mode without any problems.
I'll have to check for the UAC, as well as copying the MPQ files.
I know i have an older PC with Win XP, I'll probably dust that one off and install CE onto it see if that works!
JOLA:
