OS: Windows XP Pro
I use alcohol 120 for the virtual device cd player to start the game and play without problems. i do this after having a LOD Expansion disk shatter in the cd drive. With virtual disk mounted, I just double click the CE icon.
 

I have not found or looked real hard for a Linux based virtual cd player.
