Runeword question
« on: December 05, 2008, 05:25:11 pm »
I am new to CE and have a question about runewords.  From what I understand you can make rune words out of rare items so if thats wrong ignore the rest :P   I tried to make the runeword black in a mace last night and the runeword didnt take any ideas.

I have done many runewords before but not in CE, so i know about exact runes, exact sockets and ordering.  Any help would be grateful.

I'll try to help!
Did you read all the requirements at:

http://chaosempire.eu/d2items/index.php?action=home

Be sure to read all of the pages / browse first.
Open the Rune Word section.
Select mace for menu;
The first rune word shown is BLACK. <Grin> I know you did the above.

Now scroll do to the bottom and check the description of maces.

Did you use the correct weapon type, with only three sockets?
You said you put the runes in the correct order, the correct runes?
The above are the most common mistakes, which even the most active players still make. Like me!

Hope this helped you find out what went wrong. I'm no complete expert by a long shoot.

 :welcome:

Thanks for taking the time to write back.  I must have made a mistake some where, im guessin the weapon i picked didnt fit the class.

My biggest concern was that rares cant be runeword, but looks like they can be so thanks.

Only 3 maces (http://chaosempire.eu/d2items/index.php?action=weap)
NormalItem:
Mace
Morning Star
Flail

ExceptionalItem:
Flanged Mace
Jagged Star
Knout

EliteItem:
Reinforced Mace
Devil Star
Scourge

And yes, you can put rw's into cracked, normal, superior, eth, magic, rare, tempered, crafted items.

the mace class is somewhat deceiving. scepters are technically a mace, but they are not mace class. be extra careful when dealing with runewords and maces/hammer/scapters.
and make sure an item can have enough sockets before you try!
i made that mistake twice by hunting for a rare of a certain item class, then going to socket it and finding out i could only get 3 sockets when i wanted 4.. i was not happy. lol
