webwalker:
Bartuc's Set will boost your resistance caps to 95.
Also it will boost your resists.
It leaves you rings, ammy, and belt free for resists that Bartuc's doesn't give.
At your level, the Bartuc armor can be upgraded to Great Hauberk (elite), given 4 sockets, and 4 UM runes will increase resists by 60%
The hat for that set can only take 2 sockets, but that's another 30% to resists.

What belt to use depends on the other gear you have.

For the Bloodraven set, a socket has been made a part of the set for hat, armor, and belt (per the description that is online) so boosting resists is limited.

Resists charms are very useful.

A perfect diamond (25% resistance to all in addition to the resistancein the ammy you have on) in the ammy is the best option if your resists are not capped with all the above taken together.  The Zod in the ammy has the benefit of boosting the resists caps by 7%.

The Humility runeword in the merc armor is an excellent notion.  So is a Doom'd hammer for Holy Freeze.  I've played a trick with Humility (which also give a boost to Battle Orders) armor and a CtA: swap armor with the merc, switch to CtA, use the Battle Orders, then swap the armors back and switch back to bow.

The Tower is (up to) 5 "stair traps",  meaning you're vulnerable to enemy fire before you see your own screen.  It's just a tough, dangerous area that I generally skip because it isn't essential.  The Fire Golem from B.R.L. (BloodRaven's Legacy) makes a good decoy, as does the pair of valks and mercs.

Going from room to room within one floor is not so difficult if you cast Lower Resists from your puppenkiste skill into the room before entry: if anything is there then you'll see the glow from the curse change the lighting in the room.  If something is there, cast Decoy, Valk, and/or Fire Golem into that room before entry.  These tricks don't help with the stair traps, unfortunately.

When I'm playing with a friend (like you two do) I'd team up the Zon with a Druid or Necro so there's an army of distractions pulling enemy fire away from me.
