Topic: I cant stay connected

I have a normal ping for me(190), but i get huge lag spikes.  Usually they are long, so that I have to quit the game so I don't die from the lag.  This is a now constant problem.  It doesn't matter if I make a game or join one, or which server.  I also get disconnected a lot and I have to rejoin, but I don't always have to re-log into the game to join.  On some disconnects the game dies also.  I am only at lvl 19 and it has taken forever to get this far because of this problem.  The forums are slow for me also.  My husband  just installed a new router, and dsl modem for us and it did not make a difference.  I am using Glide, with 6800gt video Card. This is a new problem for me since the reset of the ladder. 
Any help would be appreciated as I can't play like this and have fun and stay alive.

can you post a traceroute log, to see the conenction
also it may help to know, which server you logged in (in game the first messages)

i remember that brian has had such a problem, and it helped, to leave the game, and rejoin it once
