Two complaints about this mod...
« on: June 20, 2006, 02:54:22 am »
1) Why did I get an Unhandled Exception error going from Act 1 to Act 2 on normal difficulty? No reason for it, guys.

2) Why is it necessary to have the page for Chaos Empire open while playing?

3) Why doesn't this mod start on the first double-click of the icon? Often takes me 3-4 tries to get it to start working right.

Other than that, I like the changes in the game. Love the set items, and the changes made to different mobs and mob placements. Was confusing at first, but I figured it out. All but the three things I mentioned above.

1) which error? which version do you use?

2) it is not necessary to let it open while playing; it opens because chaos wants the users to participate in the community, and the forum is the first step here...

3) hmm i heard of that before... but right now i can't remember why that was happening...

1) I use 7.66 SP3, the most recent version. It's an Unhandled Exception error that crashes it upon loading Act 2. I tried to restart, only to find I'll have to kill Andariel all over again.

2) Every time I've tried to close it, the game closes as well. I don't mind leaving it open, but it's not necessary, IMO.

3) When I tried the restart to get the news about having to redo the final two Catacombs levels, it took eight tries to get it to finally run. Also took about 3-4 minutes each try, which didn't make me too happy either.

for 1 : download the dummy video files and copy them into your d2 folder. Maybe it helps to solve the problem :)

1) Okay. Where are they located? I'll give that a shot. :)

2) Hmmm... the only two times I've tried to close it out, the game itself has shut down.

3) Bingo... this system is a Win98 one. This will be remedied soon, however. :)

1) download => d2 stuff => empty_mpq.zip , i think that's it

3) win98 is known as a troublemaker with d2 and especially ce... there isn't anything you can do except of ignoring the problems (like i do) or using another os

I'm another Win98SE user: Unhandled exceptions "just happen".

@Tessera: You count to 3 just as badly as I do!

I wanna remember, that Win98 is out of support in mid of july, no patches, security fixes and so on...

I just setup a little pc, with all fixes, to keep one last patched system..
