On the subject of virus warnings, I had a friend over, and he borrowed my computer, and searched the singles dating web pages, and sudenly I had a virus.  notepad and rundll32 and regedit were GONE.  What else was gone I couldn't be sure.  Running a virus remover didn't cure me of grief, so I installed the OS again (Win98SE).  (in medical parlance, SE's are 'side effects' meaning bad things that happen from the medicine, and win98SE is a SE from hell.)  Upshot, sound has been garbled and fractured ever since.  Re-installing the BSP from the Mobo CD, no cure. Still hunting.  Symptom: "Carry any more.  I can't" and fragments repeating many times over (imagine the last 1/3 of the laughter from Summoner, 100 times over).   Moral: loan out your computer no more than you'd loan out your daughter!
