Can't start the chaos empire!

)installed the 755 and activated it successfully,but when I double click the shortcut ,nothing happens.The game didn't even show up.
But,after I uninstalled the chaos empire ,I can start the original Diablo normally.
I ve read throuth the FAQ,use the repair.bat to reatore the org files,and reinstalled the chaos empire even for several times.but it still can't start the game.
my OS is windows XP

Did you start with D2LOD v1.10? That seems to be where most people go wrong with the installation. Having other mods installed previously can also cause some problems.
(On a side note: Hey, it seems I can read and post in some other people's threads now, but not my own. :hal:)

yes ,I start with the 1.10. and ,i do have other mod installed before.
so is there any solution?or any way to make a "pure" diablo ?

The easiest way to test this is starting the D2VidTst.exe in your Diablo 2 Folder after activating the Chaos Empire MOD and then choose any other video mode that you can select.
If this won´t help, the next questions are:
1 Do you start D2 from your CD Drive or a virtual CD?
- Loaders are not allowed and will shut down the game.
2 Which Operating System do you use?
- If Win 98 than try many times to start - the reason is unknown but win 98 sometimes won´t start directly.
3 How many RAM do you have?
4 Check with the taskmanager if the process "game.exe" will be started and stay longer than a few seconds.
- If the "game.exe" disapears after a few seconds, it seems that the Anticheat Detector finds something
wrong on your system (could be some tools or even songnames in a background-mp3-player with names
likes *hack*).
